Chapter 3

“Come on, we're almost there!” Willow urged seeing as she was the most athletic she insisted on being in front of the other two.

“Willow,” She heard a whisper from a familiar voice. Willow immediately stopped still in the middle of the forests and close to the gates of the Forbidden Forests.

“Hey, why’d you stop, we're almost there,” Apollo asked. Willow was frantically looking around searching for the person the voice belonged to. “Willow? What’s wrong?” Mason asked, concerned.

“Willow,” the voice whispered again.

“Wisteria?” Willow whispered into a dark abyss of trees. Apollo and Mason shared looks of confusion.

“What are you talking about, Willow?” Mason asked.

“Don’t you hear someone calling my name?” Willow asked, confused.

“No, we didn’t hear anything,” Apollo said, raising an eyebrow.

“Oh, that must just be my ears playing tricks on me,” Willow said. She was certain she heard the whispers. She was even more certain when she kept hearing the whispers while running. Although, she kept running. She didn’t stop anymore.

They slowed down as they neared the gates to the Forbidden Forests. The gates were always closed. Willow went first, she climbed up the gates rather quickly and jumped down on the other side landing on her feet.

“You know I could’ve just picked the lock,” Apollo said from the other side of the gate.

“No, that would leave too much evidence,” Willow said, matter-of-factly.

“So, we’re just gonna climb?” Mason asked.

“Yes,” Willow confirmed. Willow had to admit, seeing the boys try to climb the gate was rather comical. She couldn’t help but quietly laugh.

“Are you laughing at us?” Apollo playfully asked, trying to climb the gate again.

Mason nervously chuckled, “How did you do that, Willow?”

Willow shrugged, “I just did I guess,” Mason chuckled again. He tried again and finally made it to the other side. Although, his landing wasn’t as graceful as Willow’s. The least athletic, Apollo, was still trying to get to the top of the gate.

“Guys, just go without me,” Apollo whispered, getting frustrated.

“No, we aren't leaving without you. We’re going to stick together.” Willow said with determination. Mason nodded in agreement. “If you can climb trees you can climb a gate,” Willow said with a nod.

“I don’t think that’s how it works, Willow,” Mason said with a slight chuckle. As they were talking Apollo finally made his way to the other side of the gate. They high-fived each other in excitement.

“Ok, let’s go!” Willow said excitedly. This was thrilling to her and she wanted to keep going.

“Alright, so where exactly are we going?” Mason asked.

“I do not know!” She said.

“Let’s go a random way,” Apollo insisted, “See what we can find.”

“But is that a reasonable decision?” Mason asked

“Not really but there really isn’t anything else we can do,” Apollo argued.

“We came here thinking you had a plan Mr.Mastermind” Mason whisper-shouted.

As they were fighting something caught Willow’s eye. She quietly walked away from the boys and wandered off to what she saw. As she got closer she noticed it was a well. But it didn’t seem to be any ordinary well. It was quite shiny and holographic-like and was on the verge of overflowing. She ran back to the boys who were still fighting. “Guys, I found something!” She told them excitedly.

“Hold on Willow, I’m trying to tell Apollo why we should just go back!” Mason said, glaring at Apollo.

“But-,” Willow tried to speak.

“We’ve come all this way, Mason! We might as well keep going!” Apollo argued. Willow was getting angrier each second they fought.

“Guys, can you stop fighting!” She shouted. The boys became quiet and stared at her. “Thank you,” She said, “I found something not too far from here.” She told them. She gestured for them to follow her.

“Whoa!” Mason said as he caught sight of the well.

“What is it?” Apollo asked, cautiously moving towards it.

“It’s some type of well, but it’s not,” Willow paused, turning towards the well, “Normal.”

“Well, obviously it’s not normal. Look at it!” Apollo gestured toward the well. “Although, it does seem familiar,” Apollo added. Willow stuck her whole arm into the strange well. When she took her arm out it wasn’t wet from the strange liquid.

“Who’s there?” A small, high-pitched voice asked. The kids turned around startled.
