Willow stood in the dark hallway waiting for Mason to come. They were told to meet Apollo in the library to tell him his idea. What is this “grand” idea anyways, Willow thought as she waited. “Hey,” from the darkness there was a shouted whisper. Willow jumped and hid thinking it was Mom. “Willow, come on.” The voice whispered.
She emerged from behind the wall, “Mason?” she hesitantly asked since she couldn’t see who it was in the dark.
“Yeah, it’s me. Are you ready to go?” Mason asked.
“I’ve been ready. I was waiting for you.” She whispered, already walking downstairs and toward the library. She heard her friend's footsteps rushing behind her. As she opened the large doors that separated the downstairs hallways and the library. They were met with the beautiful sight of the two-story library. Apollo was sitting at the long table in the middle of the room. Willow quietly shut the door behind them. Apollo looks up from a book unamused. He had many more books spread out in front of him.
He throws the book open on the page he was reading, “Let’s go into the Forbidden Forest.” Apollo declares.
“What?” Willow and Mason say in unison, clearly astonished. Apollo was reckless but never this reckless. Did he really mean that?
“You know it’s dangerous in the forests!” Mason shouts. He remembers that they weren’t supposed to be up right now. He lowered his voice, “It’s not safe. This isn’t a great idea. Willow, tell him it isn’t a good idea.” Mason turns to Willow who doesn’t say anything.
“We don’t know the forests are dangerous. That’s just according to Mom. I’ve read a bunch of books that have information that can help us stay alive,” Apollo paused and looked at Willow, “Maybe Wisteria really isn’t dead. Maybe we can find her,” he suggested.
“It’s been a year since she disappeared, Apollo. I don’t think she’s out there anymore.” She argued.
“What if she is? What if she found somewhere to stay safe? Or she was able to live in a town.” Apollo suggested.
“A town? In the forests?” Mason asked raising a skeptical eyebrow.
“No. A town outside the forests.” Apollo said.
“Actually, Apollo does kind of have a point. We honestly don't know until we try. And I'm getting kinda bored. So, I say,” Willow pauses, “Let’s do this!” She shouts quietly, grinning ear to ear.
Mason sighs, “Is everything planned out?” he asked letting the other two know he was in.
“We leave tonight,” Apollo says. Silence filled the room. It was so silent you could hear the children shifting in their beds upstairs.
“Tonight?” Mason asked cautiously, making sure he heard Apollo correctly.
“Yup,” He says, putting some of the books up.
“Why tonight?” Willow asked.
“I don’t know,” he paused, “Uh, just a hunch is all.” He said. Mason and Willow were both suspicious of that. “It’s also better, we won't get caught by Mom as easily if we go out tonight.”
“That actually makes sense,” Mason said.
“If it makes sense go start packing a backpack or something,” Apollo demanded.
“Alrighty!” Willow quietly cheered walking back upstairs. She didn’t think her sister was still out there, but she at least wanted to try. When she finished packing what she needed she ran back downstairs to the library. Both boys hunched over, looking at a book.
“You ready?” Apollo asked. Willow nodded in response, “Let’s go then.” He closes the book and stuffs it in his backpack.
